Water Levels Improve Across Rustenburg Dams
Water levels
Feb 13, 2024
The Rustenburg Municipality is pleased to report a significant improvement in water levels across all major dams supplying the city. Thanks to seasonal rainfall, reduced water losses through the “War on Leaks” program, and active community participation in conservation efforts, our overall storage capacity is now at a comfortable 80%.
Key Figures:
Bospoort Dam: 82%
Vaalkop Dam: 79%
Olifantsnek Dam: 80%
What This Means for Residents:
Current restrictions remain in place to maintain stability, but pressure management will be relaxed in some areas.
Residents should continue to conserve water wherever possible to prevent future shortages during dry seasons.
Ongoing Initiatives:
Leak detection teams remain active across all wards.
Plans are underway to upgrade pipelines in high-loss zones.
A new water quality monitoring system will be implemented by September 2025.
